Our vision for Illinois is a thriving native flora, a public that values native habitats and advocates for native plants, and a robust array of scientific and popular publications that educate and inform about these issues.
Hike Leader
- Provides guided tour of natural area (or other facilities such as herbarium or museum)
- Collaborates with Event Organizers and/or Field Trips Coordinator to plan events for INPS members and the public
- Follows INPS event guidelines
Event Organizer
- Collaborates with Field Trips Coordinator and others to plan events
- Posts events to website and social media
- Receives RSVPs and manages attendee lists
- Follows up after field trip to publish trip reports
- Follows INPS event guidelines
Writer
- Creates content for sharing in chapter newsletter, social media, website, and/or other purposes
Photographer
- Takes photos of native plants, natural communities, and INPS events
- Shares photos and relevant captions for chapter newsletter, social media, and other purposes
Northeast Chapter Board Member
Per the Chapter Bylaws (May 2019), the below are Chapter Board positions elected by the membership. Chapter Board members plan and attend Chapter Board meetings every other month.
President
- Attends INPS State Governing Board meetings
- Member of all committees and shall see that the committees and roles function
- Plans meetings, takes minutes, helps to carry out official correspondence
Vice President
- Acts for president in their absence
- Performs duties as designated by president
Treasurer
- Keeps official financial records
- Pays bills, receives funds
- Manages activities related to bank account
- Provides a report for each meeting of the Chapter Board
Membership Chair
- Maintains membership records
- Assists state Membership Coordinator with membership recruitment
- Provides a membership report for each meeting of the Chapter Board
Field Trips Coordinator
- Coordinate field trips and other events
- Posts to website and social media
- Receives RSVPs and manages attendee lists
- Follows up after field trip and work with Newsletter Editor to publish trip reports
Newsletter Editor
- Coordinates, writes, edits, and produces a chapter newsletter (The Nodding Onion)
Members-at-Large
- No specific defined duties other than participation in meetings every other month. Ideally leads or assists with INPS projects or initiatives such as social media, grants, leading or organizing hikes, etc.
