Puccoon in grass

Welcome to one of the older, ancient beaches of the Chicago Lake Plain. Sand prairie and savanna formed here, and we should have an opportunity to see many lovely spring flowers and ferns, as the prairies and savannas bloom later than the woods. We will meet at the Jurgensen Woods Picnic Grove Shelter parking lot off 183rd Street, east of Cottage Grove Avenue. Afterwards, we will retire to the Thornton Distillery to rehydrate, eat, and chat. The Distillery sometimes has tours to see old parts of the building where crime and booze played their part. The weather looks glorious, and it’s a great time to see spring in the sands. Hope to see you there.
