Braidwood Dunes & Savanna NP Field Trip

See sand savannas and wetlands with a great diversity of plants on old dunes that blew across the Glacial Lake Wauponsee lakebed after the Kankakee Torrent. Wear sturdy, long pants and boots, as we will be occasionally off trail, mostly on sand trails. Long walk on nearly level ground. Expect ticks and chiggers. This site came under intense management in 2012, and is showing the results of the effort. We will retire afterwards to Route 66 Old School Brewing (110 Bridge St) in Wilmington.
